Initiatives of  Change, in partnership with One Common Unity, will host a community screening and conversation about Fly by Light, a film made by DC filmmaker Ellie Walton and Hawah.

Date: Thursday, August 27, 2015

Time: 5:00 - 7:00 pm

Location: MLK Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G. Street NW, Washington, DC 20001 (nearest metro: Gallery Place or Metro Center)

Fly By Light explores an intertwined story of four young people growing up in inner city America and the insurmountable odds they face to find hope, purpose, and compassion. The film recounts a story of hard work and struggle, as ambitious, yet under-resourced non-profit organizations and social activists attempt to create lasting change with piecemeal support. The free-natured dialogue and stories of our country’s teenagers are often unheard; their intellect often dismissed; their shadows often feared. The documentary reveals the hope that exists beyond the violence and neglect.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required
