Another Lens: Exploring Black Lives Matter in the UK

Charanpreet Khaira documents how protestors across the UK are calling for more to be done to stop racism in Wales.

Watching the Black Lives Matter movement sweep across Wales has been an emotional experience for me. People of colour are very much a minority here in Wales - and seeing so many other young people of colour at protests from Cardiff to Barry has been uplifting and inspiring for me. At the same time, hearing how deeply entrenched racism is for these young people has been painful, bringing back memories of racist bullying in my own childhood. It’s been powerful seeing people coming together despite the pandemic to make a stand for equality - and I hope that the momentum doesn’t end here, but that people continue to fight for racial justice in the months and years to come.
