Jessie Sutherland (CSP Alumna 2002) Speaks in IofC International Webinar
Dr. Jessie Sutherland speaks at TedX White Rock in Vancouver, BC Canada on “How to Belong in a Rapidly Changing World” in July 2018.
On April 30, 2020, Jessie Sutherland will be the featured speaker at a 12noon EST webinar hosted by Initiatives of Change International. Sutherland is not only a 2002 alumna of the Caux Scholars Program but also a speaker, trainer, Director of Intercultural Strategies, and adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia School of Community and Regional Planning. She is also the founder and innovator of the award winning Finding Home™ neighbourhood dialogue and capacity building program and author of the book Worldview Skills: Transforming Conflict from the Inside Out.
In the April 30th webinar, Sutherland will speak on building trust through a “belonging” lens based on her work with Intercultural Strategies and the development of the Belonging Framework from this work. She brings extensive knowledge on cross-cultural communication, sharing tools with citizens to identify and draw on group strengths to solve complex problems. This webinar devoted to “Building Trust in Times of Crisis” forms part of an ongoing virtual conversation series hosted by IofC International for “changemakers and trustbuilders from across the world, who will share their stories of inspiration and provide guidance how we can all build trust in times of crisis.”
Facilitator for this webinar will be Dr. Barry Hart, the former Academic Director of the Caux Scholars Program. Dr. Hart is a member of the IofC International Council and a professor of conflict, identity and trauma studies at the Center for Justice & Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University (Harrisonburg, Virginia USA). He has also served as a consultant and trainer in conflict analysis and strategic peacebuilding, with the majority of his work having taken place in the Balkans and Africa.
